Lucara Recovers Huge, 470-Carat Stone Diamond at Karowe Mine

Botswana’s main diamond mine comes through again: Lucara, which operates the Karowe mine in Botswana has recently announced the recovery of a 470-carat diamond from the mine, IDEX Online reports.
The light-brown stone is the tenth +100-carat stone and the third +300-carat diamond recovered from the deposit this year, and measures 49x42x26mm.

In February, Lucara unearthed an unbroken Type IIa 378-carat gem quality top white diamond from Karowe. This was the second huge gem found in Karowe in the space of two weeks, following the recovery of an unbroken 341-carat diamond from the same part of the mine.
