Angola Plans to Produce 13.8 Million Carats in 2022

Angola, which was forced to reduce its guidance production to 9.3 million carats in 2021 due to the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, has announced its plans to produce 13.8 million carats of diamonds in 2022, Rough & Polished reports.
Ganga Júnior, Chairman of the state-owned diamond company Endiama, said that the company is also projecting revenue of $1.5 billion in 2022. During the first four months of 2021, Angla produced 3.1 million carats. During the same period in 2020, it produced 5.3 million carats.

Meanwhile, Angola’s Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) has seized 2,477 diamonds from illegal buyers in Cambulo, Lunda Norte province. The confiscation followed a tip-off “as part of the fight against illicit diamond trafficking under the ongoing “Operation Transparency.’”
