2023 Jewelry Trend Predictions

Fashion and jewelry are ever-changing landscapes. Trends come and go with time, surfacing once and making a return years later with a few updates. Sometimes, the annual style shifts are in stark contrast with each other. That’s what you can expect to see in 2023, as the ever-popular minimalism of 2022 gives way to maximalism. These two styles couldn’t be more opposite.

To help you get on board with the maximalist trends already sweeping through the jewelry scene, here’s a look at the pieces that will be popular in 2023. Gone are the days of simplicity. It’s time for some new items to take the spotlight and a few old favorites to make a roaring comeback.

2023 The Power Pinky: Signet and Pinky Rings

Expect to see a ring renaissance in 2023. Specifically, pinky rings and signet rings are high on the list. Both of these styles sync up with the growing maximalist trend. After all, you have more than just your ring finger. Dress up the littlest one, too!

Signet Rings

Signet rings have a long history and were status symbols for centuries. They existed back in Mesopotamia, were worn in Ancient Egypt, and have appeared throughout history as ornamental and functional jewelry for royals.

Signet rings have a flat surface raised above the band. Traditionally, that surface was engraved with a monogram or family crest that was used to create a wax seal. Since there’s not much cause for wax-sealed letters in 2023, signet rings don’t have to be quite so useful. Nowadays, signet rings are embellished with diamonds either on the band or in the center.

Typically signet rings are worn on the pinky finger of your non-dominant hand, but you can buck tradition and wear it on a different finger, too. This style of ring can be masculine or feminine, so it’s a trend anyone can get on board with.

Pinky Rings

While signet rings are one option for your pinky, there are plenty of others. Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle all agree that the pinky ring is making a big comeback after a few years of being on the back burner in the jewelry world. Chunky, maximalist jewelry is on the rise in 2023, but opting for a smaller, dainty pinky ring is an option, too. Whichever way you choose, more power to the pinky!

2023 Statement Earrings

Bold, long earrings fell out of favor during the height of the pandemic as masks made them difficult to wear. Now that the dangers of an earring getting caught in a mask ear loop have (mostly) subsided, statement earrings are back. No need to search further for an eye-catching jewelry trend, because a pair of big hoops or dangling, shoulder-tickling drop earrings definitely fits the bill. If you’re looking for ideas for statement earrings, consider these options:

Drop Earrings

Pearls and gemstones are both popular in 2023 and make great options for drop earrings. You’ll be able to hit a few trends all at once and get into the maximalist game.

Hoops

You can’t go wrong with a great pair of hoop earrings and this classic style is trending again in 2023. Opt for a pair of chunky hoops or a larger size to get the right effect. If you’re not a big hoop person but you still want to hop on this trend, find yourself a pair of huggie hoops!

2023 Lab-Grown Diamond Jewelry

Lab-grown diamonds have been increasing in popularity over the years, and you can expect them to reach new heights in 2023. As more people turn to ethically-sourced products and concern themselves with where (and how) they get their jewelry, lab-grown diamonds offer a gorgeous, safe alternative to stones acquired through mining. They’re also less expensive, which is a definite bonus for a lot of people. If you’ll be shopping for diamonds in 2023, be sure to check out our LAB Jewels Collection.

What is a Lab-Grown Diamond?

If you’re not certain what “lab-grown” really means, it’s not complicated to understand. To get the obvious question out of the way first—lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds. They’re formed in a lab through Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) or High-Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) and use the same grading rubric as standard, mined diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds have the same 4 C’s – Carat, Color, Clarity, and Cut. The price difference comes from the lack of mining. It’s less labor intensive, and those cost savings get moved to the customer!

2023 White Metals

Yellow gold enjoyed a lot of popularity in 2022, but 2023 is the year of chunky, white metals. Silver and other white metals are making a splash across social media and showing up on runways, putting them in the perfect position to take over the metal category. The white metal palette is trending in fashion just as much as it is in jewelry, so it’s a solid bet that it will stay popular throughout the year.

White metals being in style gives you several options to choose from. Several choices have that coveted icy look, so you can pick your favorite or mix and match.

Silver and Sterling Silver

Silver is a top trend in 2023. It’s showing up in clothing, necklaces, earrings, rings, and anywhere you look.

Sterling silver is a bit more durable than regular silver. It’s made by combining silver with other metals (like copper).

White Gold

White gold is more durable and resistant than silver, making it a great long-term investment. It’s also more on the “white” side than silver, so if that’s the look you’re going for it’s a dazzling option.

Platinum

Since white gold begins as yellow gold, there will always be a warmer undertone. Over time, white gold will start to wear down to its yellow roots unless it’s redipped in rhodium. Platinum, on the other hand, is naturally white and a brilliant option for your 2023 jewelry.
