Huge 108-Carat Fancy Pink Diamond Found in Lesotho
Norm Mountain Diamonds (SMD), a subsidiary of Namakwa Diamonds’ together with the government of Lesotho, has recovered a 108.39-carat Fancy pink diamond from its Kao diamond mine in Lesotho. IDEX Online reports.
According to SMD, the “exceptionally rare Type IIa diamond” is one of the largest pink diamonds ever recovered, while Lesotho Minister of Natural Resources remarked that it is “one of the most significant ones to have been found in Lesotho to date.”
Past finds at the Kao mine include the 47-carat Pink Eternity diamond in 2022, the 25-carat “Pink Dawn” and the 21-carat “Pink Palesa” diamonds in 2021, and the 29-carat “Rose of Kao” in 2018.
