Rio Tinto recently reported a 16% decline in quarterly diamond production at its Diavik mine in Canada, with a total of 970,000 carats in Q2 2023, compared to Q2 2022, according to IDEX Online.

In Q1 2023, Rio Tinto had reported recovering 954,000 carats – a 4% decrease compared to 991,000 carats in Q1 2022. The half-year production for H1 2023 also experienced a 10% decline – from 2.14 million carats in H1 2022 to 1.92 million carats in H1 2023.

Despite the drop in production, the guidance for FY 2023 remains unchanged, with expectations of producing between 3 to 3.8 million carats.
