The Gift that Keeps On: Eighth 100+ Carat Diamond Found at Letseng in 2024

Gem Diamonds has recovered its eighth diamond over 100 carats this year from its Letseng mine in Lesotho. This marks a significant turnaround for the UK-based company, which only recovered five such diamonds in all of 2023.
The latest find is a 123.20-carat Type II white diamond, discovered on June 29. Last month, the company unearthed two other large diamonds in less than a week, weighing 172.06 carats and 212.49 carats.
Letseng, which is 70% owned by Gem Diamonds and 30% by the Lesotho government, holds the record for the highest dollar per carat kimberlite diamond mine in the world.
