Second Largest Diamond Ever: 2,492 Carats Discovered
Canadian mining company Lucara reports the discovery of a massive 2,492-carat diamond at the Karowe Mine in Botswana – the second largest diamond ever found.
In a statement released yesterday (August 21), Lucara expressed its excitement over the remarkable find.
The enormous diamond is the largest discovered in over 100 years, and the second-largest diamond ever, following only the legendary 3,106-carat Cullinan diamond, discovered in 1905 at the Premier Mine in South Africa.
In recent years, the Karowe Mine has produced several exceptional diamonds, including the 1,758-carat Sewelô diamond and the 1,109-carat Lesedi La Rona diamond.
