Russia: Heart-Shaped Diamond Found in Arkhangelsk Province

Earlier this month, on April 8, the M. V. Lomonosov diamond mine in Arkhangelsk Province has witnessed a rare find: a heart-shaped diamond weighing 16.64 carats, Rough & Polished reports.

 

Last year, the same mine produced a rare cloud-shaped stone weighing 92.34 carats. In 2018,  a diamond shaped like a soccer ball was unearthed in the same site, and named “Igor Akinfeev,” after a famous Russian professional footballer.

 

According to the report, “the Arkhangelsk Province is the only place in Europe where diamond deposits are located. Severalmaz is developing the field named after M. V. Lomonosov in the Primorsky district near Arkhangelsk.”
