Gem Diamonds has announced the recovery of its third large diamond weighing over 100 carats this year from Letseng, in Lesotho.

However, this still leaves the UK-based miner performing below its historical average of eight such recoveries annually, according to IDEX Online.

The most recent discovery is a 101.96-carat Type IIa diamond, though Gem Diamonds has not disclosed additional details regarding the find. In July, the miner unearthed a 163.91-carat yellow diamond, and in March, it recovered a 122-carat D color Type II white diamond.
